Don't give RUST a chance (warning horror pic)

This is a picture of my old DX's left-rear.
I'm sure you all know that our 4th gens can have serious rust issues and this is just another example of how f*cked up things can get. Let this be a warning to check your precious ride on a regular basis for rust.
I'm lucky that my current hatch has no rust at all.
(when I still had my DX I was too ashamed to post this pic wink

I've never seen a 4G with rust. Then again, ours were rustproofed in Japan before they were shipped here smile

every car in sitka has rust. a coastal town that uses sand and salt. the sand blasts the paint and the salt takes its tole then the constant rain and mosture. most cars here have green stuff growing on them kind of like a rolling cheapet

well thats all for now from sitka ak where the sun is liquid and the people dont tan, they rust

Setanta I believe Euro Civic's are also rustproofed in Japan before they were shipped but we have shitty weather here. Does it ever rain in Australia? maybe that's the difference smile

We have snow, salt, rain, more salt and more rain..
I noticed VT's and SiR's have a plastic cover under the side of the body so those area's are better protected, maybe that's why my VT is still mint but I still clean it like crazy smile

LOL - it's the middle of summer and we have been swinging from 38degrees C to two weeks of torrential rain. Hell, I've gone from spending days at Cronulla beach to wearing a jumper. Even so, even cars that spend time off the beachers are relatively rust free - Hondas from the 4G onwards are free of rust from what I've seen.

I know what you mean about the plastic protectors... I've left mine on but I thoroughly rinse the wheel arches and undercarriage. I've always done it with my cars, but Honda's rustproofing has never let me down. smile

No real rust issues here in the Seattle area. We just have to wring the rain out of them once in a while.

Cars I've seen from the rust/salt belt in the US are nasty however.

In the UK cars seem to rust more that here with about the same environment. The only thing I can think of is their being an island with a high percentage of coast relative to the land mass.
